Health and Family Education
Health Education
1. Background: In Standard 6th we learnt the meaning of 'Health and Physical Education' and about their importance. We learnt some details of the subject in the context of food. We also thought about the role of the home, the school and the society with regard to the environment. We tried to develop among the young boys and girls the understanding that growth and development are a return process. It is necessary that the young boys and- girls should have this understanding in order to understand the responsibilities of individuals, government and non government organizations.
In standard 7, we linked personal discussion with the national discussion and Study 'Health' in the context of the various constituents of the school and the society. We Studied about Chemical balance and about the problems of adolescence about mental health and. about first aid to a certain contexts.
2. Introduction : The above background has been given in the interest of continuity of the inject matter. Now we are presenting the introduction of the syllabus for standard 8. During the entire
course, the topics of discare health and hygiene are referred to offend that a repetition of their meaning will not be out of place. '
Disease : Mental restlessnes created by the inbalance resulting from thought, sensations, organic and inorganic matter.
Freedom from diseases : The peace, the state of mind achieved by keeping under control the imbalance created by thought, sensations ............. and ................
Health : The naturally peaceful and happy state of mind.

Physical Education
(Calisthenics - Revision of Exercise tables done in standard 7 (Two exercise tables of four counts include 6 to 8 exercises in each Table. The exercises should be arranged in the order of exercises meant for the head to the feet.
Athletics:

Running :100m, 200m and 400 m. Principles of short distance runnings (sprints) (100m, 200m and 400m) arrange the starts blocks, remove the starting blocks,
strides, posture of the body and finish.

Jumps:
Long Jump : Approach run, take off, floating in the air, hanging in the air, landing
OR High jump and its skills.

Throws : shotput, grip, stance, action before throwing, throw (release), reverse or changing of the feet. Standing throw and
theari o'brien method.
Major Games : Any two of the following.
(1) Kabaddi - History, development; rules.
Skills : Skills of the raiders, the cant, crossing the baulk line, kicking, touching with the toe, catching the leg, catching the arm, release from cover.
Skills : Skills of Charers to give a Kho, Judgement Kho, tap at an angle of 450 Skills of runner-single chain, double chain round play game.

Volleyball : History, development, rules skills
Service - plain service, side arm service, tennis service, passing, underhand pass, overhand- pass, smashing, spiking.
Cricket Skills
Batting : front foot drive, back foot drive, hook-shot
Bowling : off spin, Leg spin, fast bowling
Fielding : straight ball, running and stopping, catching at low and high levels, throwing, pitch practice and play.
Wicket - Keeping
Gymnastics - (Any one)
Floor exercises (for both boys and girls)
Revision of skills learnt earlier - Dive and Roll, Hand-spring, Hand stand.
Parallel Bars (For Boys) Walking, Front Roll, Side Roll, Straddle-silling on the bars.
Beam (For Girls) Mount and Dismount, walking on the beam on the toes (hands on its waist, on the side, in front, at the back, etc.) Special attention to be paid to flexibility exercises.
Yogasanas:
Yoga and meditation programmes's hou Id be organized for the development of the students health,
improved concentration and for provision of relaxation. Trikonasana, Parvatasana, Dharmasana, Halasana, Shavasana.
Wrestling (For Boys) Pavitra, Salami 1-2, Push-Dand Dhakel, (Pushing with the arm) Gardani Dhakel (Pushing with the neck).
Brief history, development of Judo, safety in Judo
skills:
Posture, natural posture, self-defence posture breaking the balance.
Rhythmic Exercises - Any one
(For Girls) - Raas, Garba, regional (folk) dance, Action song.
(For Boys) - Raas, folk dance, action song.
Lezim :
Hindustani series Char Awaz, Ek Jagah, Aanti Lagav,
Pavitra, Age phalang, Peechhe Phalang, Firki or half circle, Pavchakra
(Quarter circle), Pura chakra (Full Circle), Hoop making available in the
school suitable activites like scouting, guiding, N.C.C., Red Cross,
Sports and Games, individual and group competitions with a view to
developing among the students qualitis like tolerance, spirit of
adventure, ability to make proper decisions, ability to be extract work
from others, respect for others, truthfulness, sincerity, devotion to
duty, desire to do good to others, etc.
